Do you have any favorite memories from your time at Govans Elementary School? My favorite Govans memory is probably when I won the Math-Bee, like a spelling bee but for math. I felt very accomplished and intelligent.

With Dragons After Dismissal [Govans’ afterschool program], I participated in music where I played the viola and went to a few orchestra performances. I also did plays such as Aladdin and Annie for theater. Those programs were all really engaging and fun for me to do.  And I participated in them to be more connected with my school and my friends.

How did Govans help prepare you for the future?

Govans helped me get my, “never turn in work late” mindset. Procrastinating can be very troublesome, and I learned the lesson early on to not do so.

I also participated in Bridges through St. Paul’s Schools, at Govans and at Roland Park, from fourth grade to eighth grade. It was during the school year but mostly during the summer. I took from them that I will always have a family to look back on and interact with.

What are your plans after high school?

After high school I plan to become a software engineer, which is why I’m so invested in my computer science classes [at Poly] now. These are dual courses that provide me with both high school and college credits.

Congratulations, Jaden, on all you have accomplished!
