Joe Langmead, BCP Board of Directors, has enjoyed a long career as a CPA (Certified Public Accountant). His volunteer role with Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) is newer on his impressive c.v. and civic engagements, but it’s a good match for his skills and deep passion for helping educational institutions in Maryland. Joe is a member of BCP’s Finance Committee.

How long have you been a BCP board member?

I have been a BCP board member since 2019. I was recruited and nominated by George Hess, co-board chair, who had made me familiar with the organization over the years.

How is serving on the BCP Board different from your other civic/volunteer activities?

I have been a Baltimore City resident most of my life. The quality of its institutions has been a continuing interest. A number of the organizations I have served have been based in the City.

I have been associated with educational institutions most of my life, including as a teacher, as have all three of my children. I was an Executive-in-Residence, Loyola University Maryland, Sellinger School of Business and Management from 2004-2014 and a faculty member of St. Mary’s Seminary and University and St. Mary’s Ecumenical Institute from 2007 to 2020. I served as Board Chair for my alma mater, Loyola Blakefield, and on the board of Roland Park Country school, but the charter school model was new to me in 2019. I spent my first year as a BCP board member learning about it and BCP’s approach in particular. I continue to learn and am committed to being part of BCP’s mission.

Thanks, Joe, for your service!
