The 2024 “Are You Smarter than a BCP Student” Gala, a great night to showcase the remarkable talents and achievements of the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) students. Established in 2012, the event raises funds for BCP schools.

Held at the Baltimore Museum of Industry, the event welcomed over 200 sponsors, friends, BCP board members and many BCP administrators, faculty, and staff. Two teams of talented BCP students matched wits with a celebrity team during two exciting rounds of challenging questions culled from the BCP curriculum.

With the lively banter of emcee Tom Hall, host of WYPR’s Midday, the evening was great fun. The 5th grade team triumphed after a close round of 12 questions and a tie-breaker question. The 8th grade team established an early lead and easily won 9-3.

After the entertaining games, attendees enjoyed dinner and desserts. trio of celebrities, the questions often stumped audience members (but not the BCP teachers) who played along at their seats. The challenging questions ranged from genetics and quadratic equations to Shakespeare, 20th-century history, and musical terms.
