Congratulations to three of our Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) neighborhood conversion charter schools on their recent successful charter renewals.

On January 14, 2025, the Baltimore City Public School Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to renew the charters for City Springs Elementary / Middle School for five more years, and for three more years, Govans Elementary School and Frederick Elementary School during the 2024-2025 renewal cycle. This exciting news represents a significant milestone for BCP and its schools.

Each school is now positioned to focus on continuous improvement and uphold the standards expected by the City Schools Board, the BCP Board of Directors, and the community. These renewals underscore BCP’s steadfast commitment to fostering educational excellence and innovative strategies to support student and family success.

City Springs Elementary/Middle School: Renewed for a five-year term due to its strong academic performance and community involvement. In its decision, the City Schools Board noted the school’s innovative approaches to learning and consistent improvement in student outcomes.

Frederick Elementary School: Received a three-year renewal with specific conditions aimed at enhancing academic performance in certain grade levels. While the school demonstrated progress, the Board encouraged the administration to implement targeted strategies that address achievement gaps.

Govans Elementary School: Granted a three-year renewal with a commendation for its unique curriculum model and commitment to social-emotional learning. The Board recognized Govans as a leader in fostering a nurturing environment that supports the whole child.

A full renewal is five years; a partial renewal is three years. In 2019, the school board added an eight-year extended renewal option for charter schools that have a history of proven success (multiple full renewals). BCP’s Wolfe Street Academy was the first to receive an eight-year charter, followed by Hampstead Hill Academy, in 2022.

Congratulations to all our schools who’ve received charter renewals!
