Black History Month in February was celebrated across the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) network of neighborhood conversion charter schools in many ways throughout the month. Celebrating the diverse cultures of our school communities is central to BCP’s mission.

On February 28, 2025, Pimlico Elementary / Middle School launched a new event, a schoolwide celebration of Black history and achievement. Created and led by music teacher Ms. Smith, the inspiring presentation encompassed three daytime assemblies for the students, faculty and staff to enjoy.

Talented students from PreK through 8th grade sang, rapped, performed African dances, played African drums, and performed original skits about Ruby Bridges, Rosa Parks, and Malcolm X. Students also read original poetry and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. Pimlico’s cheer team and step team performed as well.

Thank you for such a great celebration of culture, community, and achievement!
