On June 11, 2026, the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) Board of Directors gathered at BCP headquarters for its final meeting of the 2025-2026 school year. Board Approves FY27 Budget

The Board approved BCP’s FY27 operating budget, ensuring continued investment in the organization’s six schools, student support services, facilities, professional development, and strategic priorities.

School Year Successes Across the Network

Chief of Schools Harold S. Henry Jr. shared highlights from each BCP school, which included:

Attendance Initiative Update

Early results of BCP’s Attendance and Chronic Absenteeism Initiative, funded through a partnership with the Abell Foundation, Richman Foundation, and BCP, demonstrate the value of dedicated attendance leadership, family engagement, student incentives, and data-driven interventions. Several successful strategies will continue into the 2026-2027 school year.

High School Placement Results

The high-school placement data for BCP’s 231 graduating eighth graders is impressive:

  • 35% percent of graduates will attend selective-admission Baltimore City high schools, including Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, Baltimore City College, Western High School, and Paul Laurence Dunbar High School.
  • An additional 16% will attend schools with Career and Technical Education programs.
  • Students also earned acceptance to charter, private, parochial, and specialty schools throughout the city.

Committee Updates

The Education Committee shared updates on academic performance, attendance trends, and preparations for schools that will be going through the charter renewal process starting next school year. Frederick Elementary, Govans Elementary, and Wolfe Street Academy, will all undergo the School Effectiveness Reviews during the 2026-2027 school year.

The Nominating Committee discussed efforts to recruit additional parent representatives to the Board, recognizing the important perspective parents bring to governance discussions. The committee also explored opportunities to establish a BCP alumni network to strengthen connections with former students and graduates.

The Marketing Committee reflected on the successful conclusion of BCP’s 30th anniversary year, including the release of the annual Impact Report and the “Are You Smarter Than a BCP Student?” Gala. Members also discussed priorities for 2026-2027, including expanded video storytelling and highlighting BCP’s Direct Instruction model.
