We’re proud of every Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) 5th grader and 8th grader who now takes the lessons and experiences learned as a BCP student on to middle school or high school.
We particularly salute the 278 8th grade students at our three schools with middle school programs – City Springs Elementary / Middle School, Hampstead Hill Academy, and Pimlico Elementary / Middle School – who transition to high school, ready to achieve and embrace every possibility.
Many of this year’s 8th grade students will be attending Baltimore’s top-tier high schools: Baltimore City College; Western, and Baltimore Polytechnic (Poly). Each student needed to meet rigorous entrance requirements.
- 15% (42) of BCP 8th grade students will join Baltimore Polytechnic. They will be well prepared for Poly’s challenging and engaging curriculum focused on a robust STEM and humanities program.
- 6% (14) of BCP 8th grade students will join Baltimore City College this fall. City College, the nation’s third oldest public high school, is an International Baccalaureate World School and offers a rigorous college-preparatory program that incorporates communication, intercultural awareness, and inquiry-based learning.
- 14 BCP 8th grade girls will join Western High School, the country’s oldest all-girls public high school. Western’s excellent academic programs include STEM, a vibrant visual and performing arts program, and information technology.

“Terrence has been a standout City Springs scholar since Pre-Kindergarten. Terrence has continuously exemplified the City Springs’ attributes and Leader in Me Habits, and has set himself apart both inside and outside the classroom. During his 8th grade year, Terrence maintained a GPA of 4.125, while being a member of the City Springs Honors program. He created a website for National History Day, which won a school-based award for excellence. He hopes to someday be a videogame developer.”

“Jessica joined City Springs before her 3rd grade year and has been a phenomenal scholar who has set herself apart as a leader of the school community. She is part of our Honors Program and has been a member of our Martial Arts club. She’s earned a GPA of 4.125 and acknowledgements from her teachers for her excellence in her work quality. She hopes to someday attend the Culinary Institute of America and become a world renowned chef.”

“Emmett is one of the recipients of the President’s Educational Achievement award.He has excelled in each of hissubjects and ended the year with a GPA over 4.0 as well as achieving the highest average scores across his NWEA assessments in science, mathematics, and English/Language Arts. He is an outstanding hockey player and accumulated an impressive amount of community service hours.” .

“Una is a recipient of the President’s Award for Educational Excellence as one of two HHA students who have demonstrated the highest cumulative GPA in the 8th grade and the highest average scores across their NWEA assessments in science, mathematics, and English/language arts. Una excelled in the classroom and impressed audiences with her exceptional violin performances.”
