In 2008, Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) first convened local and national experts to engage on issues affecting Baltimore City students. Called Leading Minds: Challenging Conversations on Public Education, the annual symposia challenges conventional wisdom through hard conversations that consider the complexity of education policy and prioritize lasting solutions over quick fixes.

From 11 AM until 3 PM, the program is BCP-wide professional development sessions, created by BCP educators. The goal is to connect to the Leading Minds’ 2024 theme, focusing on topics such as:
- Cognitive development at various ages/grades
- Current trends in adolescent mental health diagnoses and implications for the classroom
- How artificial intelligence (AI) may impact content knowledge acquisition
- Scope and impact of cyber-bullying
- Leveraging the benefits of students’ social media engagement in planning for instruction.
