On November 4, 2024, the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) held its inaugural BCP Academy, a full-day professional development program designed to foster collaboration and learning among all BCP schools.

Teachers and staff participated in training sessions tailored to their specific content areas and needs by traveling to different BCP schools. The sessions covered a variety of topics, including Restorative Practices, enhancing family and community engagement (for Community School Coordinators), as well as subjects related to math, science, and writing instruction.

A key distinction of the BCP Academy compared to previous training programs offered by BCP is the inclusion of sessions focused on more specialized subjects, such as the arts, library sciences, physical education, and health. Teachers in these particular areas are often overlooked, but this academy ensures that valuable resources and training are available for everyone involved.

“I am so pleased and impressed by the innovation and collaboration our incredible teachers and staff displayed for this first effort,” adds Laura Doherty, BCP President and CEO. “The session topics directly addressed individual curricular needs. The BCP Academy is a testament to the expertise and commitment of the BCP teachers, principals, and staff.”
