Marketing consultant David Freeman joined the Baltimore Curriculum Project (BCP) Board of Directors in June 2022. Since, he’s been sharing his 20-plus years of public relations, branding, and strategic communications expertise with BCP as the chair of the Marketing and Fundraising committee – and his passion for creating a better Baltimore.

Q: What does it mean to you to serve on the BCP board?

It is an incredible honor to be a member of the board and a contributor to such an outstanding organization as BCP. The BCP staff is amazing and supportive, and every interaction with them leaves me energized to do more. I always seek opportunities to utilize my experience and expertise for good causes, and being a BCP board member has been the most fulfilling volunteer work I have ever experienced.

Q: In what ways is serving on the BCP board different from your other civic/volunteer activities?

Being a part of BCP makes me feel like I am contributing to an organization that forever positively affects the lives of children and families in Baltimore City. Education has always been a passion for me and for my family. The opportunity to help provide such opportunities is a privilege that far surpasses the other important volunteer work that I do.

Q: How did you learn about BCP and get involved on the board?

A friend and colleague mentioned to me that BCP was looking for a board member with marketing and communications expertise, and he connected me with Mike Niccolini [BCP Board Co-chair]. Mike and I hit it off immediately, and he invited me to lunch to meet several other board members. It was a great discussion, and I knew then and there that I wanted to be a part of BCP.
