Pimlico Charter Earns Three-Year Renewal from City Schools

The Baltimore City Board of School Commissioners voted to renew Pimlico Elementary/Middle School’s charter contract for another three years. The vote took place on January 14, 2026, during the Board’s annual School Portfolio Review, a comprehensive process designed to ensure that schools are meeting high standards for students, families, and the broader community.

The charter renewal process, established in 2012, evaluates schools using both qualitative and quantitative data. The review looks closely at several key areas, including student achievement and overall school success, school climate, and financial management and governance. Together, these measures provide a holistic picture of a school’s performance and long-term sustainability.

This year, seven schools across Baltimore City Public Schools participated in the charter renewal process. Pimlico’s successful renewal reflects the strength of its academic program, its positive school culture, and the effective leadership and systems in place to support students and staff.

“This unanimous renewal is a powerful affirmation of the incredible work happening at Pimlico every day,” said Laura Doherty, CEO and President of Baltimore Curriculum Project. “It speaks to the dedication of Pimlico’s educators, the partnership with families, and the school’s unwavering commitment to student success. We are proud to continue supporting Pimlico as it builds on this momentum over the next three years.”

Baltimore Curriculum Project congratulates the entire Pimlico community — students, families, educators, and leaders — on this significant milestone and looks forward to continued growth and success over the next three years.
